What happens during the test

  • The plumber checks downspouts, driveway drains and yard drains to confirm none of them run into the sanitary sewer.
  • A camera goes through the sewer lateral, the pipe from your house to the street, to look for cracks and leaks.
  • Some properties need Bethel Park staff present. Your dye test packet tells you if yours does.

If the test fails

Violations must be corrected before the sale. If a violation can't be fixed before closing, call the Municipality at 412-831-6800 to ask about your options.
